SELC - "Showing Everyone Life in Christ" is the motto of our SELC District of The Lutheran Church-Missouri Synod which is celebrating its centennial during the course of 2002-2003.
The Slovak Evangelical Lutheran Church was formed in September of 1902. In the 1950's the name was changed to the Synod of Evangelical Lutheran Churches. In 1971 the SELC became a non-geographical district of the LCMS. Today our SELC District is a leader in mission starts and growth as we "Show Everyone Life in Christ." In July of 1928 our congregation was organized and joined the SELC.
Today as we celebrate the Diamond (75th) Anniversary of the founding of our Zion congregation and the 35th anniversary of the dedication of our church building in Clark, we adopt the same theme.
When the congregation relocated to Clark and while our present facility was being built the theme was "Building for Christ."
10 years later as we celebrated our Golden Anniversary the theme was "Growing in Christ."
10 years ago we celebrated the Silver Anniversary of the dedication of our church and fr5'b Anniversary of the congregation with the theme "Sharing Christ... ", which was also the theme of the SELC District Convention we hosted in June of 1994.
Notice that "Christ" is always mentioned in all these celebration themes. We pray that whether our congregation is building, growing, or sharing that in all we do we "Show Everyone Life in Christ."
We thank and praise the Lord this day that He has shown us real Life in Christ in this world and He has shown us the promise of eternal Life with Him forever in heaven.
As the Lord has shown us Life, may we confess our faith, congregate m worship, commit ourselves in our work, and to those in our church and in our community, continue to "Show Everyone Life in Christ."
